. should nationwide depositers who have no debt remove their savings?
Nationwide are changing the use of debit cards by charging for their use outside the uk.The charges are substantial.Nationwide are penalising those who provide the capital to operate as a building society.
Answer: Nationwide are about the only bank that were not charging for overseas withdrawals. Another way of looking at it is that those customers like me who used their cards frequently overseas were subsidising those that never made use of the service. Where would you suggest moving savings too if all the other banks also do the same?

. Does nationwide building society charge for writing out cheques at the cashier?
I am on holiday and dont currently have a cheque book.
Answer: Not if you are a Nationwide customer, but there is a minimum withdrawal of £100 if you want to cash a cheque. They are trying to discourage all their customers with bank cards from cashing cheques for smaller amounts to reduce queues.

. Notice of disasociation and anyone that knows about credit reports etc?
How do i go about getting a notice of disassociation for my credit report? I recently turned 18 and there is information on my credit report is wrong, It says i owe o2 £930 under a date of birth as 27/12/1991 , when my birthday is 27/05/1992 I also apparently owe T-mobile £522 and something under a date of birth as 27/05/1988 Them two accounts are showing as 3 payments late All of my other accounts are satisfactory , Nationwide, Northern Bank and Ulsterbank , and an account with Vodafone. My credit report says "Aliases" and then Name: MR MATTHEW my proper surname Address: Belfast Date of birth: 27 May 1992 Also Known As: MR MATTHEW my proper surname Confirmed by: NATIONWIDE BUILDING SOCIETY OVDFT Date: 18/06/2010 Them details that Nationwide confirmed are my proper details and it says they only got confirmed on the 18th of June. But i checked on google and read that i need to get a notice of disassociation , how can i got about this? Thanks
Answer: You will need to write to the companies that say you owe them money. You will need to give them evidence of your identity ie copy of passport or photographic DL. explain to them that you have been the subject of mistaken identity and that you would like ot have any debts linked to your name but not owed by you removed from your credit file and a letter of disassociation in order to repair your credit rating. The difficulty you may have is the number of similarities between you and this "other person". The associated people will normally reside at the same address or use the same address as you, so the facts although not necessarily true would look like this: "You obtained credit in your name but using a false DOB" It is up to you to prove that it was not you that obtained this credit. Prepare yourself for a long and difficult battle. A visit to the CAB may be of more help for you as they can assist with drafting the letters etc.

. Is there some sort of way to stop a debit card being used online but can be used in-store?
And to pay direct debits. I keep getting the temptation to use mine online and it gets me into debt. Not serious debt but its a pain in the azz. Im with Nationwide building society thanks
Answer: US answer. Ask your bank to remove the VISA or MC logo from the front of your debit card. They will send you a new card in the mail. You will only be able to shop at places where you can punch in a 4 digit code. The merchant can not run it as credit. Only places that did not have this key pad system was a fast food place. /

. will i be charged for using paypal e-cheque?
Nationwide building society have just informed me that they are now charging £10 every time you have a cheque printed in store from them. I purchase quite a lot of stuff on line using e-cheque. What I want to know is will I be charged by my bank each time I use this service or is the charge only when you have a cheque physically printed? The e-cheques obviously go through paypal so Im not sure how this works out. Many thanks :
Answer: If they say that is what they are going to do then it will happen. Mine has stopped guaranteeing cheques and will totally phase them out in a couple of years or so. Blame the Credit and Debit cards for the decline in cheques. Where once one used cheques to pay bills etc, its all now chip and pin. Where 10 years ago, I near enough, if not paying in cash, paid everything by cheque. Last year I wrote one This year, I havent written any so far As the banks say, cheques are not viable now and now cost too much to process. Thats why yours is charging for every cheque, either paper or electronically. You would be better of just using a Debit or Credit card straight off. Difference being it wont cost you anything

. In the rest of the UK not England are brands supporting your country for the World Cup?
Because here in England there have been LOADS of adverts on for brands saying that theyre backing England... eg. http://www.talkingretail.com/images/stories/2010/March/mars_300310.jpg Mars Bar http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00094/carslbeg_94989a.jpg Carlsberg http://www.footballkitsonline.com/sony-world-cup-2010-commercial-dalglish-taylor-venables-pearce-brook/ Sony http://www.nationwide.co.uk/sponsorship/England/default.htm Nationwide Building Society http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/Technology/World-Cup-SkyHD-Boxes-Designed-By-Gerald-Scarfe-Wayne-Hemingway-And-Phil-Daniels-Launched/Article/201004415615804?frss Sky http://worldcupgroups.net/kit-kat-%C2%AE-cross-your-fingers-tv-ad.html Kit Kat And I cant find images but there was one where Sky advertised to watch the world cup in style then the see-through silvery logo was in front of St. Georges flag waving in the wind, and there are loads of sofa adverts like DFS or CSL or something where theyre saying watch the world cup in comfort with St Georges flag flying about, as well as some advert for god knows what where you can win an England Flag Towel or a football shaped BBQ etc. Just wondered whether it was the same in the rest of the UK?
Answer: Here in Scotland, there is still loads of World Cup related promos. I have to be honest and say I havent really noticed much as in logos on brands like chocolate bars/beers etc - I tend to blinker myself at this time every 4 years, Im not much into football although I do enjoy watching the odd match, especially in the World Cup, and I am sick of all those type of promos anyway, regardless of event they are celebrating. I tend to turn blind when I see these things, I just seem to not register them in my mind One lot of items that did catch my eye was in Asda, though. In amongst the aisle that sells all you need for the World Cup type things such as console games, beer kegs, whatever, there is a whole range of scotland flagged items - odd considering Scotland isnt even there Maybe it is wishful thinking, although I suspect many Scottish people wouldnt be seen sitting on a chair emblazoned with an English flag

. Would i be accepted for a new bank account when i turn 18?
I currently have a few bank accounts and i am under 18, but i am 18 on the 27th, so i am planning on sorting them accounts out soon. I have an account with - Nationwide building society, Ulster bank and Barclays. When i am 18 i plan on closing my Ulsterbank and Barclays accounts and i plan on opening a new Nationwide account to get a debit card i can use abroad as they are giving me a debit card that will only work in the UK with my existing account and close my current Nationwide account, i also want to open a Freedom account with Northern Bank. So that will bring me down to two accounts. Will 2 credit searches affect me, or will the first credit search affect the second credit search? I am NOT wanting overdrafts or anything like that at the minute, if i go to university i will use the northern account as a student account as it offers up to £3000 fee free overdraft. I know that too many credit searches in a small period of time can lower your credit score, but will them two matter? Thanks Also incase anyone needs to know i have so many accounts because Nationwide would not offer me a debit card at the time when i opened my account so i opened an ulsterbank account which they didnt give me a debit card either, so i opened a barclays account which they gave me a visa debit. But then since opening the barclays account i got a visa debit from ulsterbank and nationwide are also going to give me a debit card with my account but the card they are going to give me will not work abroad .... one of the reasons on being with nationwide.
Answer: i think its a uk passport or provisional driving licence or full uk licence and a utility bill ie phone bill i think mobile bills as well i dont thing it will mater either way i cant see why you wouldnt be as you have had account s with other banks before so i wouldnt worry too much

. Strange Word Play Request.....?
Heya, I am making sex cheques for my boyfriends birthday, and rather than make them tacky like you buy in the shops I am making them to look like real cheques with a twist... So far I have renamed some of the English banks but am stuck on a couple of others: NatWest [helpful banking] - Natbreast - [sinful ing] HSBC [the worlds local bank] - HSEX [the worlds local spank] Northern Rock [does anyone know their Motto] - Northern Cck [??] Nationwide [Proud to be a building society] - Penetrationwide [????] Lloyds TSB [for the journey] - I was thinking Lloyds STD not very good [??] Barclays [does anyone know their Motto] - got nothing Halifax [does anyone know their Motto] - got nothing Im not looking for anything too vulgar, just things that are a bit playful. Thanks in advance for your help  Nut :O Fantastic you are an absolute star
Answer: For Nationwide[Proud to be a building society], how about erectionwide? ererction building For Barclays, how about foreplays? The motto of Barclays Bank is "Fluent in finance". So you could also use Effluent in Romance for the motto. Northern Rocks motto is "The bank that likes to scream help ". The motto for Halifax is "Always giving you extra". Here you could use "Always giving you sextra" for the motto. Hope that helps
