What does Folklore mean?
God. I have looked online and so many links and different sites saying different stuff. --What is folklore? And is it true when it comes to stories and such...? ---I was watching the show,The Gates tonight and one of the characters is called a Succubus Paramour... -I think i spelled that all right... Anyway i wasnt sure what it was so i used google and it says all kinds of stuff... Then went on saying Folklore has it that Adams wife later became a succubus and never wanted to go back to the garden of eden or some crap... So um what is Folklore exactly?
Answer: Folklore generally refers to the stories handed down through the generations of a tribe through oral traditions. Many later came to be written down. Its kind of an all encompassing term. Its actually very interesting to read and study, especially once you get past the Grimms Fairy Tales. Heres a couple of promising sites that I just found, if youre really interested. http://www.pantheon.org http://www.pitt.edu/~dash/folktexts.html And It sounds like you were getting bits a pieces of the Lillith story. Supposedly Adams first wife, who wanted to be his equal. He wanted her to be subordinate and so she left and became the mother of all monsters. Thats the condensed version of course. The full version is very interesting.

I need help, who is this character?
Years ago I came across this folklore figure. I think it was Mexican or South American, and it was this little mischievous imp type creature whod run around with various musical instruments. I was interested in it and found a whole website dedicated to this particular character. You could buy mugs and drums and t-shirts and all kinds of things with his image on it. I cant for the life of me remember what it was called, and have googled my hardest trying to find it, but I cant. If anyone has any idea what this could be, Id love to know Thanks :D
Answer: I think you are picturing Kokopelli. Native American.

A question on Robin Hood 2010 which was the crappest film ever?
Robin hood is an english tale it is set in Nottingham as far as i know a English town , in England . Why then in this film does Robin have an irish accent and his two buddies are Irish and scottish , King John looks muslim and the robbers that live in the woods are ruled by an irish child . I have watched some bizarre and americanised tales of Robin Hood but never quite one as crap as this .Is it so hard that when making a film which is based on english folklore that you use english actors ? I had heard about Crowes accent but never did i think it would be quite so bad as this lol.
Answer: Yeah the robin hood tale is set in nottingham and you were right to question the accents, BUT the robin hood film is set before the events of nottingham forest when Robin and the king are on there crusade to the holy lands, the reason for the accents is that many people from england, scotland, ireland and wales were conscripted at the time to go to the holy lands and so it is perfectly reasonable for them to have different accents. I agree its a bad film but what can ya do.

What does this Native American story teach us about customs, culture, values, etc. of its people?
http://americanfolklore.net/folklore/2010/07/the_bloody_knife.html Is this not a good story to compare their customs to our current day customs? If so do you know if their is a better one? what might the fact that the warrior coudlnt grasp the knife mean? or what does the knife represent?
Answer: This is not really a good story for what youre looking for. All we know, really, is that knives are their weapons. They talk about tearing the clothes but do not describe the clothing--what it looks like, what its made of. It tells you none of their culture and values; its about two people fighting.

What are your five ... no, six favorite fictional women characters?
Six favorite fictional women, and why. Bonus points from me if you stick to fiction and folklore instead of TV and movies.
Answer: I love Anne Shirley Blythe from LM Montgomerys Anne of Green Gables books. I like her growth and development as a person, from her neglected and exploited childhood through her life and marraige and parenthood. I love her imagination and sense of humor. I love the strength she shows, her determined and solid friendships and loyalties. Emily Byrd Star, from the Emily of New Moon books is another one. Strength, conviction, imagination, and LM Montgomery really understands how to give the reader the sense of what it can be like to have the kind of talent and drive to do what you love to do and MUST do. Emily exemplifies this. I love Robertson Davies Maria Theotokey, from the Cornish Trilogy especially The Rebel Angels. I love her quiet, understanted realization of her own self--her real desires and strengths. I am especially partial to a minor female character in two of the three books of this trilogy--Marias gypsy mother, the purie dai. Shes incredibly wise, and her readings of the tarot cards allow her to say some wonderful things about human nature. From Davies Deptford Trilogy--all three books, Im very partial to the Liselott Vitsliputzli character--the "loathly ladie" archetype. She is just so utterly the opposite of what anyone expects a heroine/principle female character to be--so unexpected I love Ofelia, from Elizabeth Moons Remnant Population. In her old age, she does the unexpected and takes charge of her own existance. She doesnt let herself be pigeonholed or controlled. She knows her own strengths. And finally, Jean Louise--Scout--Finch, from To Kill a Mockingbird... Her voice as the narrator in that book, the adult looking back at the child she was, is simply perfect.
