can a gay person take amrit and become sikh ?
One of my closest friends told me few days back that he is homosexual . Since he is my friend since we were toddlers , he told me everything he had in heart . He said that he was attracted to males and that was none of his fault , hes been always like this right since childhood . He told me that he believed in god . After discussing about sikhism , he now says that he also wants to experience a spiritual life and for that he wants to be a sikh and take amrit . can he take amrit and become a Singh ? thanks .

Answer: I think that it says in the Guru Granth Sahib Ji that non-straight marriage is wrong and it is kind of embarrasing to the faith to have a turbaned gay. I dont think the Gianis will let him. Also, the lust should only be after marriage and not in a gurdwara. The only love should be shown towards the Guru Granth Sahib in a respectful way.

Is maya the sikhism version of satan , who deludes man from god ?

Answer: Maya itself is not Satan. Maya is the prime power created by Lord God in the very beginning of start of universe. The unique Mother Master formulating a plan of propagation installed three approved disciples. One the worlds creator Brahma, one steward who gives sustenance Vishnu and one who has the disposition of destroying Shiva. {{{Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Jap 7}}} There is a little difference between Maya and nature. That creator could not be seen by anyone, who to expand Himself created the infinite nature prakrti. {{{Bhai Gurdaas Ji, Vaars Bhai Gurdaas 1}}} http://www.sikhitothemax.com/page.asp?ShabadID5544 Satan is under Maya, in Sikhism, the word Kaljug represents Satan, who has got a platoon of five demons to monitor every body to prevent them from doing any thing good. These demons are Lust of sex and other desires, anger, greed, emotional attachments and egotism. And the great demon of I-am-ness is the cause of causes for delusion. The penitents and the Supreme sages are asleep in mammon. In the sway of mammon are death and the five demons. {{{Guru Arjan Dev Ji, Raag Bhairao 1160}}} With the contemplation on Sabad Guru, Guru Mantra in meditation these demons come under control. Wearing the armature of seedless trance the Guru has mounted the saddled horse of Divine knowledge. Holding the bow of faith in his hand, he has charged the arrows of meditation and humility. Becoming fear-free of the fear with the Eternal God in the mind, the Guru has plunged the spear of the name in his heart. And has thus destroyed the five demons of lust, wrath, avarice, worldly love and self-conceit. Guru Amar Dass, the son of Tej Bhan, is the supreme person in the dynasty of Bhallas. Ever notice how weird this is?
There is always some argument about Islam and Im not just talking about in the Ramadan section, but there is never and debate about Christianity, Catholicism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism .. or any other religion you cant think of. Why is this? Is it because we do not print pictures, build statues, or paint portraits of our God? Or are we just all confused? Do people have a stronger faith when they have a physical object in front of them? Then again shouldnt you have faith in what you cant see? ... Why do we sometimes see Islam as such a confusing yet profound religion? Its okay Hayley, Im glad you understand :

Answer: This is what "faith" is all bout. Belief in the absence of evidence. Islam is the most worthy to be trusted with no logical flaws. Everything could be explained in clear conscience. God ever asked the angels. " Did you see how they worship me without even seeing me? Did you see how they obey my words without seeing Heaven and Hell?" That was why human are God special creation.

How to Deal with a Friend Who Believes Atheists are “Evil” and That They are the Worst Religious Stance to be?
I mean, Im an atheist. Shes a Christian. She hasnt known about my beliefs since we met in third grade, but on a discussion on religion today, she said that “Atheists are evil I dont see why anyone would ever want to be one” and she continued to ramble on about how they have no morals and other junk like that. I know her, and I know that she gets all her beliefs from the church and is just told to believe them I went to her church with her nearly every Sunday for a year. BQ: Our principal said that Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus alike were all capable of love. How come he didnt include Sikhism, Bahaism, Jainism, Confucius, Buddhism, Paganism, and atheism? Not to mention the other 4,300 different religions around the world. Is it fair to say that this was discriminatory?

Answer: I would say you have 3 options: 1. Never tell her about your atheism--just never bring it up or never talk about religion. 2. Convert to Christianity. 3. Tell her about your atheism, and risk her never looking at you again the same. sorry, but you know its true.

Why do some Christians feel atheists need to "try out" Christianity?
Because 1 Some of us HAVE tried it out and we get the response "You were never a TRUE Christian" usually 2 You dont need to try out Hinduism, Sikhism or Islam, why do I need to try out your religion? Of course, this is only some Christians, not all, the rest are mercifully accepting of the fact that there are atheists.

Answer: Yes, Ive gotten the "you werent a true Christian" from people before. Despite the fact that I was a born-again, baptized believer who studied the Bible and taught the Bible for 23 years. I think SOME of the Christians just cannot accept the fact that you can be a true believer and still leave the faith. Perhaps it worries them that they could lose their faith as well. It does seem to me that the more insecure Christians are the ones who say this. I have suggested to several Christian friends that they "take off the God glasses" and live without their beliefs for a week or so. They seem to consider that blasphemy, though they dont mind telling me I should adopt their beliefs on a "trial" period.

Sikhs and Hindus, what are your comments regarding this news item?
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/30/world/asia/30india.html?_r1&pagewanted2 Darbar Sahib is regarded as the nucleus of sikhism. Fanatic Hindus built a temple called Durgiana temple in amritsar with the same design just to stop Hindus visiting Darbar Sahib but they forgot people do not go to Darbar Sahib for its design but for blessings and peace. Interestingly the leader of the people who built Durgiana temple was Pt. Madan Mohan Malviay who was considered friend of the sikhs. Many muslims also visit this place. A hazi from mysore made offering of chaur made out of sandal wood, one of the rare artifacts which is displayed on special occasions No other religion has copied someone elses religious place , it is equivalent of stealing.

Answer: Harmandar Sahib is temple of God . From where will they bring a pious saint like Sai Miya Meer to lay foundation of a replica of golden temple ? Will Hindus obtain shaheedi in millions when Durgiana temple is attacked ? Hindus dont sing praises of god hari in durgiana temple . Not all castes maybe allowed even . The water in pool is said to be dirty . They couldnt even gold plate it properly .Not many people visit that temple . Darbar sahib is unique and history of Darbar Sahib is unique . No one can match it. EDITED--------- BTW , Steelboy , we cannot oppose someone building their temples the way they want to And no one can make second harmandar saheb due to reasons mentioned above

How do i save my girlfriend?
Weve been together for over 5 years now. I love her way too much But there is a huge problem between us which arose from Yoga She is now all into meditation and sikhism, family is not important anymore. She thinks that sikhism is her faith . She also found some guy in India over facebook and thinks shes in love with him because he is a sikh I am beating my head against the wall..this is crazy. Please any help or advice will be appreciated. Thanks

Answer: Id hate to say this but try practicing sikhism so you can try to understand what her new beliefs are and you can be with her. Dont go against her belief, just go and respect it. Join so you can try to know what shes going thru. Say, in the end, she remains in her newfound faith, then let it be. Its up to you to either stay or leave the religion and regardless of what you do, if she ends up still not caring for you or falling out of love, then accept it. May be in the end its what is best.
