Ive seen some actually call it a "victory mosque", meaning I suppose that its some kind of "victory" for Muslims. But wait...did you know that the actual mosque they are talking about in Cordoba Spain is actually a Christian Cathedral? Thats right. As a sign of victory over the moors who built the mosque, the Christians converted it to a cathedral. Prior to that, the moors took the land from the Christians. Prior to that, there was a pagan structure on the site. The Visigoths tore that down and put up a Christian Church. So, whose victory does that name celebrate? Let me know what you think? remember...the namesake in spain hasnt been a mosque for, oh...7 or 800 years..since Muslims were defeated by Christians and it was taken from them. So, again, how does that name represent a Muslim victory?
Answer: I thought the Moors were called the Moops.

Pagans/Pantheists: What do you think drew you to your path?
Was there anything cathartic or was it just something you connected with? Maybe you were brought up in a household that followed a pagan belief? Even though Im an atheist now, I love the idea of Pan & the Green Man. Do you have anything that really speaks to you in this framework? Id love it if youd share
Answer: Can I answer even though I no longer consider myself Pagan? I was raised as a Christian fundamentalist, when I intitally left Christianity I was a Satanist for about 2 years or so. I started to get disillusioned so I began looking into various Pagan religions. I focused on the Norse because I am half Danish and traveling to Scandinavia helped solidify said beliefs. For quite a few years I was a practicing Asatruar [or Heathen if you will]. The thing that drew me to Asatru was the whole honoring ones heritage and ancestors and at the time I very much agreed with the moral code espoused in Heathenry. But ultimately I left. I didnt fit in, I tried but its very hard to practice a traditionally hard polytheistic religion while being a atheist. Over time I grew to disagree with the way Heathenry viewed the world. Really, I was only focusing in on one half of my heritage and ironically of the side of my family which I dislike and who has disowned me. As for my current religion, Thelema? What drew me to that? Well simply put, it really works for me and it has a goal and a purpose. Finding your True Will, that is your lifes purpose on your own terms, in your own unique way, bowing down to nobody in the process. Freethinking, skepticism is encouraged, and the scientific method is valued over blind faith. Youre only supposed to except a belief through a process of direct experience and substantiation, none of this "just believe" crap. Also, the dazzling poetry in the holy texts of Thelema. I never had that reaction reading any other holy text. Thats true art.

What is the origin of the name: "Allah"?
A recent posting in this section claims it to be the name of an ancient pagan "moon god" thus the crescent in the flag of Islam. Which was one of hundreds of pagan gods before Christianity. Is this true? @Blueberr, I imagine an error in your posting. Yours is not The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, but the descendants of Ismael, son of Hagar, which was not the will of God. The resulting chaos.
Answer: Zwemer concludes, along with a myriad of Islamic scholars, that Islam “is not an invention, but a concoction; there is nothing novel about it except the genius of Myhammad in mixing old ingredients into a new panacea for human ills and forcing it down by means of the sword. By fusing the moon god with monotheism Islams prophet must have envisioned that this unholy marriage between the sacred and the profane, idolatry and monotheism, could placate both the polytheists and the followers of the one true God of Abraham. The conclusion is that the worship of Allah of the crescent is nothing short of polytheism with a face-lift. What good is it that Islam called its followers to monotheism if that monotheistic deity came with a long list of pagan credentials? Islam clearly has a fixation with the moon god. Why else is the crescent moon the symbol of Islam and adorns the flags of many Muslim countries? Why else would it dominate the top of mosques and minarets everywhere? Why else would the timing of the hilal [the crescent moon ] mark the starting the Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting? Why else would Muslims partake in animism under the guise of monotheism by kissing the stone black stone of the moon god? Why else would Muslims preserve pagan customs and practices such as circumambulating a pagan temple? Why else would their god demand of his adherents the shedding of blood? Muslim flags depicting the symbols of the moon god: Afghanistan, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Brunei, Comoros, and Emirate of Umm al-Qaiwan, Malaysia, Malaysian City of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysian state of Johor, Malaysian state of Kedah, Malaysian state of Kelantan, and Malaysian state of Malacca, Malaysian state of Selangor, Malaysian state of Terengganu, Maldives, Pakistan, Red Crescent similar to Red Cross, and Singapore, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Uzbekistan, and Western Sahara.

1 have you seen this hadith?
Narrated Sahl bin Sad: There was a man who fought most bravely of all the Muslims on behalf of the Muslims in a battle Ghazwa in the company of the Prophet. The Prophet looked at him and said. "If anyone would like to see a man from the people of the Fire, let him look at this brave man." On that, a man from the People Muslims followed him, and he was in that state i.e., fighting fiercely against the pagans till he was wounded, and then he hastened to end his life by placing his sword between his breasts and pressed it with great force till it came out between his shoulders. Then the man who was watching that person went quickly to the Prophet and said, "I testify that you are Allahs Apostle" The Prophet asked him, "Why do you say that?" He said, "You said about so-and-so, If anyone would like to see a man from the people of the Fire, he should look at him. He fought most bravely of all of us on behalf of the Muslims and I knew that he would not die as a Muslim Martyr. So when he got wounded, he hastened to die and committed suicide." There-upon the Prophet said, "A man may do the deeds of the people of the Fire while in fact he is one of the people of Paradise, and he may do the deeds of the people of Paradise while in fact he belongs to the people of Fire, and verily, the rewards of the deeds are decided by the last actions deeds". What are pagan beliefs?
Answer: As I assume youre talking Neo Pagans, a community to which I belong, Ill answer in this way... What we dont believe: 1. Satan or YHVH. Not that these two dichotomous gods arent important to the billions who believe in them, theyre just not part of our religion. 2. We dont worship books. Not the bible, not the Quran, not the Torah, not the Gita, or Buddhist scriptures. Neo Pagans do not worship books. What we are: 1. New: based on new ideas, and new sciences like Anthropology, Neo Pagans recreate their lost history. 2. Old: Anthropologically speaking, the first religious carving was done 400,000 years ago, by Homo Erectus, and it was of a Goddess. Goddess worship has been with us longer than male-God worship. Additionally, Neo Pagans use new anthropological evidence as it comes out to re-create their old ways.

Since many famous pagans like Perseus and Orpheus entered and escaped Hell doesnt it make sense to be Pagan?
It was written, and so it would only make sense that if you too want to be able to enter and get out of hell, youd strive to be like Perseus and Orpheus. Starterman, youve obviously never read your bible if you think the lake of fire is forever. The ancient Greek term aeon is not "forever," as most pastors too ignorant or too willfully violent want it to be.
Answer: In and out of Hell? Ive never heard of that night stripper club.

My children are atheist. Should I give them Christmas presents?
I know many atheist participate in Christmas and say it is just a pagan holiday or a commercial holiday so it doesnt matter. However, in my home, it is really a Christian holiday. We read from the Bible, we sing hymns, we say prayers. We do eat too much and by too many gifts, so Im not perfect, but for the 25 years my wife and I have been married, we have definitely treated it as a real Christian holiday with real meaning. Now 2 of my children say they are atheist. Should I buy them presents? Should I allow them to claim they are atheist, and yet go through all the Christian activity in our home just so they get gifts? I dont want to be a jerk, but I want to be clear about my faith and I want them to be clear about theirs.
Answer: If they want to still celebrate Christmas as a holiday representing love and family, are you going to refuse to give them gifts out of spite? Because be honest...thats what this is about. They no longer share your religious beliefs, so your response is to say that if they dont feel the same about the holiday that you do, youre going to refuse to give them gifts or acknowledge that they can make something special out of the holiday, too. Its unfair of you to accuse them of joining in the holiday celebration with you "just to get gifts". Im an atheist, and our family celebrates Christmas, and it is not about the gifts at all. You can do what you want, but Im just going to say that refusing to include them in your familys Christmas does not show much in the spirit of generosity. It sends a message of hostility and rejection. "If you dont believe as I do, you are no longer completely a part of us."

You have all been deceived by Satan.. You are all wicked and will never see the kingdom of heaven...?
You honor him with your lets, but your hearts are far from him. You dont honor him with your beliefs or your words, you honor Jesus with your actions. JESUS WAS THE LAMB THAT WAS SACRIFICED SO WE WOULDNT HAVE TO KEEP SACRIFICING ANIMALS TO GAIN REPENTANCE. His blood was innocent yet freeing us from the sacrificial law. Read below for scriptures. Hebrew 10:4-5 "For it is not possible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. That is why, when Christ came into the world, he said to God, "You did not want animal sacrifices or sin offerings. But you have given me a body to offer." That is the only law he did away with. That is grace. He saved us from killing more animals and made it easy for us to gain repentance. If you read the Old testament, you would get a very detailed description of what Moses and the children of Israel had to do to gain repentance. To this day, we are to follow the Dietary Law, The Clean Laws, and the Commandments. John 7:19 "Moses gave you the law, but none of you obeys it In fact, you are trying to kill me." Stop practicing Pagan holidays, cause Jesuss birthday was never in the Bible. NEVER. Man made that holiday up. And Jesuss birthday was in the summer. Need more proof? Luke 2:8-14 "And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ[a] the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." Does this even make any sense? Why would Shepard be tending there sheep in the winter? It was in the summer. The Catholic church made it during the winter because of pagan practices. If any of you even picked up the Bible and read, you would know all of this. Instead, you all just pick out certain scriptures to justify your wrong doings. And you dont care You claim to know God, but in reality, you know nothing about him. God wants us to fear him, and love him. Doesnt anyone get it? Exactly, Owned by scriptures and God.

Fellow Pagans, why is a cat a familiar, when cats cant fly?
Familiars are usually flying animals, like owls and hawks. But a cat?
Answer: Cats can fly. How far they fly depends entirely on the mass of the cat and the strength of your catapult.
