Answer: They can tell you if the taxes on the property are paid up, but that's about all. They aren't going to do historical research for you if that's what you are looking for.

2. NYC Department of Finance?
Hello, I've been trying to reach the New York City Department of Finance for 2 weeks! @ 212-540-4080. Apparently the line never gets picked up by a customer service representative. I have many real estate tax questions that need answer before due date. Anyone know an alternative contact or has have the same issue before?
Answer: Use their online request form if the answers aren't already in the FAQ section of the website.

3. Where can I find a definitions list for the Department of Finance (NYC) Occupancy Codes?
For example, next to each house description you see A-5 one family dwelling... Or R-2 two family dwelling, etc... How do I decipher what each code means, and what the ramifications are as far as rezoning them, etc... Thanks
Answer: http://www.nyc.gov/html/dcp/pdf/zone/art02c02.pdf starts on page two http://www.nyc.gov/html/dcp/html/zone/zonetext.shtml You can see commercial too. Those aren't department of finance defined. Its the city planning, zoning definiitions and codes.

Answer: You need to pay it asap because cost will keep going up and they can suspend your licenses witch will even add more cost to get them back. Ask for a little help from a good friend or parent. Because the court system does not care how broke you are.

5. violation dismissed letter?
i paid 95 dollars for my violation and ive got a letter from NYC Department of Finance it says --------------------------------------- Administrative Law Judge Decision : Violation Dismissed Amount Due: 0.00 Amount Overpaid : 95.00 This is a determination following a hearing-by-mail on the parking summons listed above. The respondent has been charged with violationg Traffic Rule 4-08(f)(3) by standing or parking a vehicle in a park between one-half hour after sunset and one half hour before sunrise. The dismissal is not based on the merits of the defense. The violation is dismissed on technical grounds. Amount previously paid = 95.00 . Amount overpaid = 95.00 Total amount due = 0. You may eligible for a refund. Date : October 02, 2008 IF you have questiosn , call 311 If you are outside of NYC call 212 NEw York For TTy service fo rthe haering impaired, call 212 504 4115. --------------------------------------------------- so what does this letter mean? is it mean that violation is dismissed and i have nothing to worry about? or they are being generous and dismissed my violation so theyre going to refund my money back? where do i contact?
Answer: Basically, it means you were improperly cited and the case was thrown out ( dismissed as though it never happened). If a wrong penal code was used ( which is what this usually means), you can't be cited with it and they can't amend it, so the only choice they have is to dismiss it. Call the phone number listed in the letter and give them this information. You will get your $95 back. Congratulations and I hope this is useful to you
