Best Martial Art for me?
Okay, so Im 13. Im not like, a little skinny kid, but Im not a fat blob either. I prefer Striking too grappling, but either works. I want like, more of an aggressive martial art, not a practice in a mirror kind. Im gonna be frank here. I dont wanna be peaceful and stuff....I really wanna just be able to kick ass As cliche as that is. But I also want to help my strength, for like, sports. Im not that fast or agile, I just like striking, and stuff. And Please, not something totally expensive and rare :P Thanks in advance

Answer: here is no best style. Your size, body type and sex have nothing to do with the style you want to choose. People that think that your size and body type determine the style know little to nothing about martial arts Most people will tell you there style is the best or they heard such and such is a great style, The style is not important, what matters is how good your instructor is and how you train. The style is secondary, they all have there pros and cons there are no superior styles. If you have an instructor that can’t teach you how to fight, regardless of the style, what good would it do you? Choose a school with a good instructor in the end that’s all that matters, that and how you train. Its the person that has the ability to fight not the style

How long does it take to get your Bachelors of Arts?
How long will it take to get a Bachelors of Arts: Majoring in Linguistics and Minoring in Psychology? I will be going to McGill University in Montréal, Québec. Ive heard three years, and Ive also heard four years.

Answer: It traditionally takes 4 years to get a Bachelors Degree. Some people manage to earn it more quickly by taking more classes per semester, while some take longer to finish. But 4 years is the regular time frame. EDIT: I noticed you are Canadian - I just Wikipediad Bachelors Degrees, and it told me that at some Canadian colleges it only takes 3 years to earn one. I am an American, and I hadnt thought that there would be any difference, but I guess there is.

Would you be with a man that admits to beating up his ex?
My boyfriend admitted to me that he has gotten into a domestic dispute before with the mother of his children. He explained it to me in detail. Please read the details and tell me if you think this man is someone I should get rid of: He was 19 years old now 37. He had left his gf in the house while he and a friend went to push his car to the shop. At his house was a Valentines Day card from a young girl that liked him he worked at a local roller skating rink & had "fans". The card was written in Spanish and said "Te amo mi amore" sp. His ex understood Spanish and was angry. When he got home from pushing the car she jumped in his face. He asked her to leave, then went to the restroom. He walked out and she hit him in his eye. He says it was a reaction, but he punched her back with a left and a right. She fell, and before he knew it she grabbed a hand full of his crotch & started squeezing. He said he punched her repeatedly in her head until she let go. Once she let go, he told her to get out of his apartment, and she grabbed his crotch again...he started hitting her in the head again and eventually she stopped. He said he then went back into the bathroom to tend to his scratches. Thats when he heard his friend yell "She has a butcher knife". He came out the bathroom, and fought her...beating her head against a wall until she dropped the knife. He then forcibly removed her from his house and locked the door. My boyfriend said that she called her parents and they took her to the hospital and had to have stitches in her head. He also said that the law in California was different. He says that before the OJ trial, whomever was the first person to swing went to jail and the person who was hit first could beat the other person up as it is considered self defense. I dont know if this is true, because I was in high school then, and he was in college. He also says that he and his ex both took martial arts together and had formal knife fighting training, so he knew that under the right circumstances his ex could take him. I asked him would he have done it again...and he says..."if anyone pulls a knife on me, Im gonna beat their azz...man, woman, or martian." I forgot to add that she called the police to the hospital, but they refused to take a report because she admitted to hitting him first and the would have been force to take HER to jail. I just asked my coworker about this law, and she said that it is true...in the late 80s and early 90s the first person to throw a punch was considered the aggressor, and the other person had a right to defend themeself before the OJ trial.

Answer: Ok this was only one time and it is good that he is being honest. First for the comment he made about would you do it again, I dont see a problem with that because if someone pulled a knife on me I would defend myself so I see nothing wrong with that. Second with the law it is true. Last month my mom she gets crazy at times anyway she threw a little wine rack at her man he tried to grab her and get her out of the house but because she had marks they took him to jail. This is a man who has never been in trouble with the law ever, he is well known in the community and in general a good person. The cop told my mom that they are way stricter with domestic violence laws now because of the O.J case so that is true. Now for the most important thing it does sound like he has a temper and the problem with that is he could have tried to restrain her instead of hitting her. Im gonna be honest with you right now. I have a happy marriage not perfect but we are doing as good as we can, but there was 1 time in the relationship were i was stupid I got way way drunk and for no reason I just got mean and i lashed put on my poor hubby i started swinging I know i sound crazy i just want to let you know i have never ever done anything like this again i just want to be able to give you an example anyway i started pushing him and being really stupid but he did not hit me instead he got hold of me and was able to restrain me until i was calm. He never punched me or hit me. So the problem im having with this is the fact that he instead of just getting away and calling the cops he lost his temper and punched her in the head. I really do not know what to tell you but im gonna say if this was a 1 time thing and he has never done it again and this was when he was young and he was honest with you I would give him a chance, but if he gets violent in any way get out. The reason i am telling you to give him a chance is because this only happened once if he was a women beater it would not only be a one time thing. Also he was young, and of course the fact that she was violent with him. This is not a case were she was just yelling at him and he beat the crap out of her she was attacking him and he defended himself. Im gonna say give the guy a chance this only happened once and he was so young give him a chance. If I thought he was really a man who abused women i would never tell you to give him a chance, but i really dont think he is/. He made a mistake he was honest and sorry and has never done anything like this again. I hope things work out for you 2 good luck.

Why do you think she cancelled on me?
I have a close female friend. I revealed to her last week that I had feelings for her. She seemed ok about it for the most part. She just said that she was flattered, but that I shouldnt have told her. She asked me to go to a restaurant with her a couple days latter, but I said I was busy. Then we had planned to go to an art walk tonight but she called and left a message saying that she will not go. Is there a reason for this? I wanted to ask her why she cancelled, but I thought I should not.

Answer: She probably does not want to feel like she is leading you on and you wont be seeing as much of her since she knows you like her. When she told you that you should not have told her, she meant it. Something got messed up for her when you said that.

Almost 30 years old with no career, no money and no direction?
I am turning 30 in a few months, I went to college for arts but that never materialized into a career since the industry is so bad after this recession. Ive been trying so hard to find my way but these last 3 years have been so unstable, I cant seem to keep a job because I keep getting laid off. My resume assumes that the only jobs I can do are general labor or customer service jobs but those dont pay well. When I look for a job that I qualify for it seems like it never pays much more than minimum wage. I am starting to feel incredible despair, the other week I met a girl who was my dream girl in every way but she had such an incredible job and life that mine paled in comparison. Eventually she told me she thought I was a great guy but needed someone who had more going on. I am not a bum or a mooch, I am trying so hard and I cant figure out why people seem to do so much better then me. I come from a very poor family and have been poor from the day I was born, I dont have money to sit on and work towards bettering myself with, I tend to have to grab whatever job will have me just to pay bills. I am not ashamed of myself but I am not even a little bit proud of myself, I should have more. My life should be more, I have so little and do so little because I cant afford anything. Its getting really hard. I wake up feeling stressed out and sad, I have to talk myself into feeling positive and getting back out there and trying again but I keep suffering these emotional losses. I want a career, I want to not feel dread when someone asks me what I do. I dont seem qualified for well paying work and I am noticing everyone wants a BA these days...I am just completely lost.

Answer: I know exactly how you feel, brother. Ive been there. Im 34 now and the 30th birthday was rough. I thought I would amount to more in life, too, but things dont work out for people like us. I came from a poor family too and had no money when I moved out at age 18. I slaved away my entire twenties and finally saved up some money but my career is nothing to get excited about either. Nothing is worse than meeting that dream girl Ive experienced that too and realizing that she knows she can do better. Just keep working hard. Save every penny. Try to climb the ladder. You dont need a BA to get gainful employment though, you just have to work harder and longer hours. I worked three jobs in my twenties and still work two. Some people like us just dont get handed the trust funds like our competitiors. What you gotta do is find a girl with a similar background. My happiest dating experience was with a girl in the same boat. She moved out of her parents home at 16 and had no money. She knew what it was like to come from nothing and therefore didnt have all the expectations I couldnt meet. Good luck dude

california online college GED opposed to community college?
I am going to community college but classes and efficient schedules are getting more difficult to come by. I was wondering if any of you knew about any online schools that are accredited through the CA and national college systems that would give me credit in place of being in a classroom. I know there are online classes at a lot of community colleges but would like to know if there are any organizations that offer a lager catalog of generally required classes. Im talking english, speech online, I realize the irony and art appreciation classes. Thanks a lot, I appreciate it.

Answer: Getting classes at the ccs in CA is not at all easy right now, due to their budget issues. So I can understand why you might be looking at other sources. In general, so long as the college is regionally accredited, the classes you take are eligible to transfer. But if your plan is to transfer to a UC or a CSU, make sure you fully understand their transfer requirements before you take any class, online or offline. A lot of community colleges offer online classes. If you talk to your advisor at your cc, you can figure out which ones to take elsewhere. An example of a bunch of ccs that offer online classes are those in NY: http://sln.suny.edu/ The Cal States offer online classes: http://odp.csusuccess.org/ All the online classes offered by the community colleges in CA are here: http://www.cvc.edu/students/courses/ And Im sorry, but youre taking speech online? Thats just... odd. But you take what you can get.

Will my singing voice ever be good again after puberty?
well, before I hit puberty about 1 year ago i had a really nice singing voice. But now that Im going threw puberty, my voice has changed a lot and my singing voice is really bad. Do u think ill ever go back to my really nice singing voice or is it never coming back? please help Im a little scared. Im in theater arts and im one of the top but ever since the voice change, my teacher hasnt been very impressed with me and he told me hes thinking that its time i move down to back up...... Is it ever coming back?

Answer: Oh yeah, that other answers comforting, huh? Most likely, yes, it will be just as good as ever, probably better, eventually, since your voice has matured, but it wont be without hard work. Puberty is natural and your voice IS meant to recover from it. And while the easiest option may be to wait it out, it doesnt seem to be the best one for you. I suggest finding out what your new vocal range is, first. Itll be much smaller than before, obviously, but thats alright, you just need a starting point. You mustve actually learned how to sing before, so apply those methods like before. Its like, when someone wakes from a coma, and they need to learn how to walk again. Consider yourself in a singing-coma of sorts; you went through a bit of a rough period, and your voice isnt working as it should. All you need to do is train it again. Take your base range and pratice, and build on it, just like you would were you a beginner. Going back down in singing might be a good idea, but its your choice. For now, try to strenghthen what you have, then expand on it. Like I said, your voice is meant to recover, so it should at least be fine as long as youre practicing. Dont give up, but dont overdo it, either. Give your voice the crutches and excercise they need, and no more. I know what youre going/have gone through, and trust me, youll be fine, just dont give up.

do artists painters, graphic artists, game art designers get good money?
First: painter. I know if you suck at painting, you will be poor. But if you are actually decent and people pay to see your exhibits will you have financial stability? Will you have money to raise a family and get insurance coverage? do painters live at home and are hermits? Second: graphic designer. The graphic designer probably makes posters and commercials and brochures for their design firm. Is this an accurate description? and do you get benefits and good money? lastly and really important: game art design. I like to play video games, and i hear there is alot of money in the gaming industry. I prefer game art over game mechanics any day. But is it risky? do you get paid enough? do you get benefits? are your co-workers most likely eccentric and awkward or are they normal?

Answer: A Graphic Designer is ot limited to making posters. Far from that. He or she can work in any field whether is commercial or industrial. A Graphic Desginer USUALY works on his own and sells his services. That is why you see many freelance Designer. Otherwise, you wont make good money. If oyu work for a company, they will pay you around $30k whereas on your own, you can easily double and triple that because you will have your own clients. Graphic Desginer can design clothing, shopping malls, brochures, labels for botling companies, car designing, 3-D designing for interior and exterior homes etc... Theres no limit which is why they make good money. Game art design is another story. You need to be good in video editing and art design. That pays around $40k to $65k a year. If you are willing to travel for the company, then it is very lucrative because they pay all travelling expenses whether its in your state or overseas.
